• What to Choose? Braces or Invisalign

  • straighter teeth Boise orthodontist

If you want straighter teeth and have concerns about your smile, talk with our Boise orthodontist about your options.  As the orthodontist Boise residents trust for their braces and Invisalign services, we can help you decide what method is better for you.  Each smile is unique, and we develop our treatment plans to meet your unique needs.  Invisalign and braces both help you get straighter teeth, but how do you choose what works best for you?

    Braces

Metal and ceramic braces have been around for quite some time.  This is one method used for correcting the alignment of teeth. The teeth are straightened using brackets which are adhered to each tooth. Then, wires threaded through the brackets and small rubber brands which hold the wires in place are added. Over time, our Boise orthodontist tightens the wires; a process that moves your teeth to their desired place. Maintenance of braces is similar to your normal brushing and flossing routine, though we recommend extra care when eating certain foods.

How long will I wear braces?

Your oral treatment plan while wearing braces will depend on many factors.  Typically a patient can expect to wear braces for 2 to 3 years, though this can vary from as little as 6 months to 4 years or more.  With proper care and eating foods that don’t compromise your braces, you can achieve straighter teeth in a minimal amount of time.

    Invisalign

Invisalign is a solution for straighter teeth similar to braces.  However, with this treatment plan, our Boise orthodontist uses clear trays to move your teeth.  This treatment plan takes anywhere from 6 months to 18 months, depending on your needs.  Invisalign isn’t an option for all smiles, but it has great benefits if it does work for you.  Trays must be worn for at least 22 hours every day, but they can be removed for eating and your normal oral hygiene regimen.  The trays are replaced at set intervals; each one a bit different than the last.  The Invisalign system uses trays to move your teeth into their desired placement.

Both Invisalign and braces are wonderful options when it comes to wanting straighter teeth and a healthier smile.  Talk with our Boise orthodontist team to understand our services and to learn more.  Follow us on Facebook, as well, for up to date oral health topics.  We love improving smiles and are available to help you achieve your vision of a great smile.
